What is REACH?

The Regulatory Education and Competence Hub (REACH) offers online CE courses sponsored by massage regulatory boards. Courses focus on regulatory education with topics such as ethics, laws, boundaries, scope of practice and cultural competence. Courses in REACH can be taken at any time, and completions will be recorded in the Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) for state boards to access. All continuing education courses offered through REACH meet FSMTB Continuing Education Standards.

What is FSMTB?

The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) is an autonomous, not-for-profit organization comprised of state regulatory boards and agencies that regulate the massage therapy profession. The mission of FSMTB is to support its member boards in their work to ensure that the practice of massage therapy is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner.

How can I confirm whether my state board accepts REACH courses?

The best ways to know if your state board accepts these courses are to either review your state board’s website or contact the board and ask them about their continuing education policies. Check that the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards is listed as an acceptable entity for continuing education. The state boards have been instrumental in creating CE Registry, so as time passes, more states will have this type of language in their laws.

What is the Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD)?

The Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) is a national regulatory database that contains information about each licensed massage therapist across the country. It contains records of a therapist’s license, exam, school, continuing education and disciplinary actions for states to review when a therapist moves from one state to another. When an LMT completes a course in REACH, that completion is recorded in MTLD. If your state participates with MTLD, they can access this information.

Will my course completion information integrate with the Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD)?

Yes, when you complete your course in REACH, the documentation of that completion will be recorded in MTLD permanently.

Will you send my completion certificate to my state board?

We will not submit your completion directly to your state board, however when you complete courses in REACH, the documentation of that completion will be recorded in MTLD permanently.

What is CE Registry?

CE Registry is a clearing house of information about courses, instructors and providers of continuing education that meet the standards set by the members of the FSMTB, and the state massage boards and agencies. The CE Registry will accept information from CE providers, including course completion rosters, and transfer that information into the Massage Therapy Licensing Database for permanent recording. Registered and Provisional CE Providers in the CE Registry are required to comply with the standards and are held accountable for non-compliance. CE Registry includes a course search tool that allows potential students (LMT’s) to search for the right course for them.

Is FSMTB a provider in CE Registry?

Yes, FSMTB is a provider within CE Registry, using REACH to offer our courses.
